Are you…

Nervous when it comes to stepping into the classroom as a Supply, Relief or Substitute teacher?

Prac Student or New Graduate feeling shocked at how little university has prepared you for the real world of teaching?

Teacher who is seriously suffering from imposter syndrome?

Tutor confused at where to start?

Whether you’re worried about what class you might get each day, have no idea what resources you need or petrified you’ll get a nightmare student to keep under control, don’t panic. You’ve come to the right place.

I remember all too well graduating and feeling like I was being fed to the lions, unprepared for any and all of the situations that came my way.

I used to get that pit in my stomach, nervous poop in the morning, waiting in anticipation for the call from my agency. (No? Just me???)

I’ve been there, done that and have got your back my friend!

Cue…Teacher for a Day resources to the rescue.

What Teachers Are Saying

Affectionately referred to as “a life saver”, the “teacher’s bible” and a “must-have”, these resources are literally changing lives, one nervous teacher at a time.

I don’t want to toot my own horn, but hundreds of teachers have taken the time out of their busy day to thank me for creating them.

It floors me every time that people can even be bothered to write to me, but when someone tells you things like “I’ve learnt more in 5 minutes reading your book than I have my whole degree” OR “The ONLY resource I need to keep me sane and do a great job” OR “You’ve made me a better teacher”  you know you’re doing something right.

And when I get emails like this from a single mum, my mission is complete.

“Never underestimate the difference you have made with your work. Your book helped me to work up the courage to get back into the classroom, to survive the difficult days, and eventually to land a permanent part-time position that now keeps the rent paid after my son converted to home-schooling due to bullying. Thank you so very much for helping us through these challenging times.” – Laura-

About Teacher For A Day Resource Books

So, why are over 15 000 happy teachers loving their Teacher for a Day resources?

All activities are tried, tested and loved by students AND teachers. If you want to have an enjoyable day, you can rest easy knowing all the activities are educational, engaging and enjoyable for both educators and students alike.

The resource books are “all-in-one”so you no longer need to buy multiple books for different grades or subjects. Just grab one compact book for your teaching area and you are good to go!

Since photocopying can be a pain in the butt and often near impossible to access as a causal supply teacher, I made sure ALL my activities don’t require worksheets. The trees are grateful too.

As a supply, relief or substitute teacher, resources can be scarce, so all the activities only need things you will find in a classroom. No fancy instagramable craft gear needed here.

Whether you need 5 minutes to fill or a whole day, TFAD has you covered.

With a Confidence Guarantee, you can purchase it risk-free if it doesn’t help you feel more confident stepping into the classroom.

Meet Kelly Quilter

My name is Kelly Quilter, teacher, author and creator of Teacher for a Day. I have 20 years’ experience working with children working in Early Childhood, Primary and as a Supply Teacher.

When I started out supply teaching, I was an anxious mess every morning. I use to carry a million resource books and class sets of random sheets for “just in case” to help me feel more prepared.

But to be honest, it just made me feel more overwhelmed and was heavy as shit to lug around each day.

After years of teaching, I decided there must be a better way and decided to create an “all-in-one” resource to help teachers feel more prepared and confident with whatever was thrown their way.

Over 15 000 teachers have purchased my resources and find just having them on hand “eases their anxiety”, makes them “feel more confident” and even “makes them a better teacher.”

For over 7 years, Teacher for a day has become the “go to resource” for casual relief, supply and substitute teachers, classroom teachers and tutors to feel more prepared and confident in the classroom.

FAQs

  • Childcare Educators would benefit from the Early Childhood Edition.

  • Classroom teachers and Tutors teaching from K-2 would benefit from the Early Years Edition.

  • Primary School/Elementary School or Casual Relief. Supply/Substitute Teachers would benefit from the Primary Edition.

  • High School Casual Relief/Supply/Substitute Teachers would benefit from the High School Edition.
  • Depends on how you like to work. The ebook is great for those who prefer to use a device or laptop.

  • However, many people purchase the ebook and then ask to upgrade to the hard copy as they find it quicker to reference the pages you need in a physical copy.

You can print out the ebook, however if you are wanting it in full colour and don’t have your own high quality printer then it is cheaper to purchase the hard copy than to get it printed and bound at a printing shop. Plus the quality of the book is far superior and will last much longer than a printed and bound version which easily loses pages with long term wear and tear.
  • The package gives you a copy that is best displayed on the smart board. Whilst the books were designed to not need tech, if you have it, it can save so much time and effort copying activities on the board as this option will includes activities that are best displayed on the smart board. This includes art examples, questions on one page and answers on the next, picture writing prompts etc.

  • Is it necessary? No.

  • Does it make your life even easier? Absolutely!
  • Early Childhood Edition is 219 pages.

I’ve just purchased the Teacher for a Day secondary edition. I have been a teacher for 25 years so you’d think I’d seen it all. But us secondary teachers all cop an extra now and then and the worst thing is if it’s out of your method and your colleague for whatever reason hasn’t been able to leave any instructions! Have no fear! Grab this book and head for that full class of 27 armed with all you need to get you through the next hour worry free! I keep it in my trolley because even with my regular classes you get to that period 5 class and you’re not sure whether you or one of the kids will spontaneously combust if you have to say urbanisation one more time this term! If I were in charge of daily org I’d definitely have a couple of copies to hand out at that crisis time that the photocopier has gone on a go slow and 8N have had their 5th CRT for the week!

I kept seeing the post on FB and didn't think I needed it. Eventually I clicked on the link and I have to say I'm so glad I did. I've used a number of the activities already and I'm sure I'll be using many more of them in the future. Such a great resource!

Fantastic Resource for relief teachers - gives you a starting point for a daily plan and all the help in behavioural management for the classroom needs. I have used some of the suggested ideas for resources (message cards are an awesome addition to my (stickers and stamps collection) for marking work or recognising children work ethic for the lesson. Highly recommend this resource if you are looking for assistance into your relief work journey...and don't want to lug around heavy books and multiple resources you may never use... Thanks Kelly

I have just purchased the Teacher for a Day Primary School ebook package. What a fantastic resource! I am an experienced Primary school teacher venturing into a new phase of day to day casual teaching so this resource is invaluable to me. The activities are engaging for the students and ready to use for teachers with little preparation. Ideal for those unexpected class changes. I particularly like the maths resources with answer pages included. Perfect for the busy casual teacher not wanting to be bogged down by marking commitments. Student work is consolidated as well when marking together.

TFAD is amazing. Literally everything a relief teacher needs, even after 4 years without stepping into a classroom. I recommend it to everyone, however, most of the time I mentioned it to other relief teachers, they've already got it! Thank you so much,Kelly

Fantastic resource especially for graduate relief teachers. Kelly should run transition courses at Universities. The practical information, skills and guidance she provides is priceless.
